The Joburg Super Kings, on Monday, January 16 announced Sibonelo Makhanya as the replacement of Harry Brook for the ongoing inaugural season of SA20.
England’s young gun Harry Brook pulled out of the South African T20 league due to workload issues after he was picked in the IPL auction for a hefty amount.
Joburg Super Kings confirmed the development via Twitter:
Makhanya recently led the Titans to a CSA T20 Challenge title triumph. He looked in great touch throughout the tournament, amassing 119 runs from six innings at a strike rate of 119.
As for Durban Super Giants, the Men in Yellow began their SA20 2023 campaign on a winning note against the Durban Super Giants but couldn’t continue their winning momentum, losing their next two matches against Paarl Royals and MI Cape Town.
Currently languishing at the bottom of the points table, the Joburg Super Kings would be keen to bounce back stronger and return to their winning ways when they lock horns with Pretoria Capitals at the Wanderers Stadium on Tuesday, January 17.
