“Virat Kohli’s Decision to Drop You Was Correct”: Fans Fire Back at Ambati Rayudu’s Ill-Timed Tweet

Ambati Rayudu faces backlash for an ill-timed tweet after Pakistan’s attacks; clarifies support for justice and armed forces.

Former India cricketer and IPL 2025 commentator Ambati Rayudu sparked major controversy after posting a message on social platform X that read: “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.” The tweet, shared shortly after Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks on Indian cities, drew heavy criticism from fans who called it insensitive and demanded his removal from the commentary panel.

Critics accused Rayudu of lacking patriotism, and old allegations of bias toward MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings resurfaced across social media, fueling meme storms and heated debate.

In response, Rayudu issued a clarification via follow-up posts:

“An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.” Let’s remember — this isn’t a call for weakness, but a reminder of wisdom. Justice must stand firm, but never lose sight of humanity. We can love our nation fiercely and still hold compassion in our hearts. Patriotism and peace can walk hand in hand,” he wrote on X.

Rayudu later expressed deep gratitude to India’s armed forces, acknowledging their sacrifices and bravery in defending the nation from multiple drone and missile strikes, especially in Jammu and Pathankot.

“In moments like these, we stand united not in fear, but in resolve. I feel immense gratitude to our Indian Army who are the real heroes who carry the weight of a nation with unmatched courage, discipline, and selflessness🙏🏻
Your sacrifices don’t go unnoticed. Your bravery is what keeps the tricolour flying high and our borders safe.
May your strength always lead us to safety, and may your service continue to pave the way for a more peaceful tomorrow.
Jai Hind” in another post Rayudu shared on X.

As outrage continued online, prominent Indian athletes including Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma publicly expressed solidarity with the Indian armed forces, praising their swift and effective response.

Rayudu’s commentary role for the remainder of the IPL remains under review, though no official statement has been released by the BCCI or broadcasters as of now.
