IPL 2025 Squads Disbanded Following Suspension Amid India-Pakistan Tensions
IPL 2025 squads disbanded as BCCI suspends league amid India-Pakistan tensions, foreign players begin returning home

All 10 IPL franchises have begun disbanding their squads after the BCCI suspended the tournament for one week, following government directives amid rising military tensions between India and Pakistan.
BCCI Secretary Anirudh Saikia confirmed the temporary halt of IPL 2025, stating that a revised schedule will be shared after a comprehensive security review involving government authorities, franchises, and broadcasters.
The BCCI cited player and staff safety as the top priority, and immediate travel arrangements are being made for overseas personnel. As of now, all foreign players are reported to be safe, though many have expressed concern about the evolving situation.
A total of 62 overseas players were part of IPL 2025 squads, and many are now returning to their home countries amid uncertainty about the league’s resumption. Cricket Australia and Cricket West Indies are in close contact with BCCI officials and monitoring the developments regarding their players.
This unprecedented pause follows the Indian government’s Operation Sindoor, launched in response to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists. The cross-border hostilities have now spilled over into India’s sporting calendar.
