Former India cricketer and expert Sanjay Manjrekar on Saturday took a dig at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) over their poor selection as David Warner & Co. lost against Mumbai Indians by 13 runs in IPL 2021 on Saturday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
It was their third consecutive loss in the ongoing season. They lost their second match against RCB narrowly by 6 runs.
Asked to chase down a target of 151 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad were off to a brilliant start with an opening stand of 67 runs between skipper David Warner (32) and Jonny Bairstow (42). However, the team once again lost the plot after the duo’s departure and were bundled out for a paltry 137 runs.
From a strong position of 67/1 inside eight overs, Hyderabad lost nine wickets for just 60 runs to continue their losing run in the ongoing season. SRH are now winless in their first three games of IPL 2021 and are the only team yet to get off the mark in the ongoing season.
Sanjay Manjrekar took to Twitter to aim a dig at SunRisers Hyderabad after their third consecutive loss in IPL 2021 and said any team that plays Virat Singh, Abdul Samad, and Abhishek Sharma together in an XI doesn’t deserve to win.
Notably, Hyderabad had made four changes in the XI against Mumbai Indians and were riding on these youngsters to get them through, however, none of them managed to step up and perform.
“Sorry to say, but anyone that picks Abhishek Sharma, Virat Singh, and Abdul Samad all together in one playing XI do not deserve to win,” Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted.
Guys Need To Play Smart Cricket In India: David Warner
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper David Warner also expressed his disappointment with his side’s inability to end up on the winning side. Stating that he did not know how to digest the loss, the Australian cricketer revealed that he was disappointed. Warner further added that his side batted poorly and if a side does not bat deep, they cannot win the match.
“I don’t know how to take that. Obviously disappointing. Two of us were set but it proves that if you don’t bat deep, you can’t win. If you get a partnership and if there is one person at the end, you can chase it down. These scores are very chase-able, it’s just poor batting. The guys need to play smart cricket in the middle. The bowlers have been fantastic,” said Warner in the post-match press conference.
