Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel, on Sunday, became the first player to take a hat-trick in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2021.
Patel took hat-trick against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on Sunday in the 39th match of the Indian Premier League 2021 encounter in Dubai. The magic poured in the 17th over of Mumbai’s innings, who got a brilliant start in the 166-run chase, but then kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore handed the ball to Harshal Patel in the 17th over, and on the first ball itself, he dismissed Hardik Pandya by a slower one. The Mumbai all rounder mistimed his shot and gave an easy catch to Kohli.
On the next delivery, Harshal trapped Kieron Pollard with another slower delivery and finally he completed his hat-trick by dismissing Rahul Chahar LBW on the first ball for a golden duck.
Following this hat-trick, Harshal Patel also became the only third RCB bowler to take a hat-trick in IPL. Praveen Kumar and Samuel Badree have already achieved this feat in the earlier seasons of the tournament.
Harshal Patel finished the match with figures of 4/17 as Royal Challengers Bangalore bowled out Mumbai Indians for 111. Notably, this is the first time that Royal Challengers Bangalore has defeated Mumbai Indians twice in the season. With this win, Virat Kohli and co also ended their losing streak in UAE.
