Chris Gayle To Play For St Kitts In The CPL 2021
Universe Boss Chris Gayle will be playing for St Kitts in this CPL league 2021.
The 2021 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will take place in St Kitts & Nevis in its entirety, with all 33 games being played in the Federation. The tournament will get underway on August 28 with a similar format of games that worked successfully in 2020 and delivered a record audience of over 500 million.
The venue has been a witness to a number of superlative knocks including Chris Gayle and Andre Russell’s century in 2019 and 2016 respectively.
Meanwhile, a big breaking news is coming for all the Universe Boss’ fans. Chris Gayle is all set to make a comeback for St Kitts in the upcoming season of Carribean Premier League 2021.
Notably, Gayle had opted out of CPL 2020 citing personal reasons but will make a comeback this year after having rejoined his old team- St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The development was brought to light by the franchise’s official Instagram account.
This is not the first instance of Gayle deciding to go back to his former team. The left-handed batsman played four seasons for his home franchise Jamaica Tallawahs before playing for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
However, Universe Boss returned to the Tallawahs ahead of the 2019 season. While he had a great start in his reunion year, also scoring a century, his form saw a sudden dip and Tallawahs could only manage the last place.
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots had retained just 9 players before the CPL 2021 player draft. SKT Patriots had retained players like Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen, Sherfane Rutherford, Sheldon Cottrell, Rayad Emrit, Jon Russ Jaggesar, Dominic Drakes, and Joshua Da Silva. They traded in Dwayne Bravo from Trinbago Knight Riders.
