IPL 2025 Likely to Resume After India-Pakistan Ceasefire; Revised Schedule in Works
IPL 2025 set to resume after India-Pakistan ceasefire, revised schedule and centralized venues under discussion

Just minutes after a ceasefire between India and Pakistan was officially confirmed, IPL 2025 franchise officials were instructed to prepare for a potential resumption of the league as early as next weekend.
Broadcast and venue crews, who had begun dismantling operations following the week-long suspension, were told to pause, with plans being drawn up to resume the tournament in a condensed format.
While many overseas players had already started leaving India, several key foreign players remain in the country, keeping open the possibility of returning to action if the tournament resumes swiftly.
The IPL Governing Council is expected to meet soon, but teams have already been informally notified to keep players and staff ready. According to sources, 13 league matches and four playoff games remain, including the incomplete DC vs PBKS match, which was halted due to an air raid alert. BCCI is currently deciding whether to resume that match from the 10.1-over mark or replay it entirely, since both teams remain in the playoff hunt.
A revised schedule will likely push the final beyond the original May 25 date. Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad are being shortlisted as centralized venues to host the remaining matches, which could reduce logistical stress and enhance player safety amid ongoing national security concerns.
With international commitments and the Asia Cup approaching, the BCCI is considering additional doubleheaders to ensure the tournament concludes within a manageable timeframe.
Teams that are already out of playoff contention, such as CSK and SRH, may not recall overseas players like Pat Cummins, who have returned home and are preparing for national duties.
The resumption now spares the BCCI from the challenge of finding a new window later in the year, preserving the continuity of IPL 2025 amid a turbulent national backdrop.
