The 21st match of the Indian Premier League 2021 was played between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in which the latter came out victorious by 5 wickets.
Both the teams have had a disappointing season so far. While Punjab has only two wins in six games. Kolkata, on the other hand have now two wins(+1) under their belt and are currently placed at fifth spot in the points table.
Earlier in the match, Kolkata Knight Riders won the match and opted to bowl first at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. This decision of Morgan seems absolutely fine as they restricted Punjab Kings to a low score of 123 for 9. Mayank Agarwal (31 off 34) and Chris Jordan (30 off 18) were the highest scorers for Punjab.
However, one moment from Punjab’s inning that is currently under talk is the altercation which happened between two quiet-looking players – Prasidh Krishna and Chris Jordan.
The incident happened in the 20th over, when Punjab Kings struggling to post a competitive total, Chris Jordan smashed two huge sixes off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling in the 20th over.
The Kolkata Knight Riders’ quiet looking bowler Prasidh Krishna looked furious with himself and followed it up with a beautifully disguised slower one. Jordan was completely deceived as the ball went on to smash the stumps. Krishna had quite an angry reaction as he looked towards Jordan and both the players exchanged a few words between themselves.
As long as the match is concerned, Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target of 123 with ease. While chasing, Shubman Gill once again failed with the bat and got dismissed for just 9 runs. Nitish Rana also failed and went out for Golden ball duck. Rahul Tripathi then played a much-needed knock of 41 off 32 balls. Eoin Morgan (47* off 40) and Dinesh Karthik (12* off 6) then took their side over the finishing line. Notably, Prasidh Krishna picked three wickets in the match – Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan and, Chris Jordan while conceding 30 runs in his four overs.
