Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets in what turned out to be a low-scoring thriller at Wankhede. The Royals chased down 148 as Chris Morris finished the game in the final over. Middle-order batsman David Miller (62) was the game changer of the match.
Chasing a small target of 148, the Royals got off a disappointing start as they lost their five wickets for just 42 runs. First, Chris Woakes sent both the openers Jos Buttler (2) and Manan Vohra (9) back to pavilion. Following this, Avesh Khan and Kagiso Rabada dismissed Sanju Samson (4), Shivam Dube (2) and Riyan Parag (2).
However, things looked smooth for the Royals when Miller and Rahul Tewatia shared a 48-runs partnership for the sixth wicket. As the duo was looking to cruise through, Rabada provided the breakthrough by dismissing Rahul Tewatia for 19 runs.
The Royals still had some hopes as Miller was alive at the other end, but after smashing Avesh for back-to-back sixes in the 16th over, the Proteas was caught at long-on while trying to whack another maximum.
It was Chris Morris in the end who won the game for RR, by making 36* in 18 balls with 4 sixes, with two of those maximums coming against Tom Curran in the last over, when 12 runs were needed.
Earlier, RR pacer Jaydev Unadkat destroyed the DC batting unit in the powerplay. The left-armer picked up three wickets in his quota of 4 overs while conceding only 15 runs. Unadkat dismissed Prithvi Shaw (2), Shikhar Dhawan (9), and Ajinkya Rahane (8).
