BCCI Suspends IPL 2025 for One Week Amid Cross-Border Aggression by Pakistan’s Armed Forces

BCCI suspends IPL 2025 for one week amid national tensions; revised schedule to follow after security assessment.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the remainder of IPL 2025 for one week, effective immediately. This decision follows high-level consultations with franchise owners, broadcasters, sponsors, and fan representatives, amid growing security concerns due to Operation Sindoor and the escalating unwarranted aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces.

In its official statement, the BCCI emphasized that the safety of players, officials, and spectators is paramount and reiterated its unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces and the Government of India.

“At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation, as they lead a resolute response to the recent terrorist attack and the unwarranted aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces.” the Board noted.

A revised schedule and venue list will be released after a full risk and logistics assessment is conducted in coordination with security agencies and stakeholders. The Board has assured fans that all matches will be rescheduled fairly, with minimal disruption.

This unprecedented mid-season suspension highlights the sensitivity of the current national climate and the BCCI’s priority to align with the country’s strategic interests during times of conflict.
