In the 13th edition of Indian Premier League, fans are witnessing many young talents emerging as a star player for their respective team. One such player is Rishabh Pant. Delhi batsman has been playing with much more maturity depending on the situation in UAE.
Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has backed Pant to replace Dhoni in Team India. He feels that Pant is the best option as a left-handed batsman is crucial for the balance of the side.
Former Indian coach has said that young Rishabh Pant is the most suitable substitute for Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the national team as this left-handed batsman will provide a good balance to the team in the middle order. Pant is in great form in IPL-13. This Delhi Capitals batsman has scored 171 runs in five matches.
“In terms of wicket-keeping, I think it would be Rishabh Pant. I think the way he started this year’s IPL and I think it is very important to have a left-hander as an option because for Team India when it comes to the middle order it helps to balance out the right-handers,” Bangar said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.
Sanjay Bangar has also got former fast bowler Ashish Nehra’s support. According to Nehra, every player needs to be backed at the highest level to deliver results.
“It totally depends on which format we are talking about. If we are talking about Test cricket, and if you want to go with the best wicket-keeper then you also have to consider the mindset of the captain and coach. I am in total agreement with Sanjay Bangar, I think they should go ahead with Rishabh Pant. Pant should be backed! Every player needs to be backed when it comes to international cricket,” Nehra said.
