IND vs ENG: Indian Bowling Coach Mocks Harry Brook Ahead of Final Day at Edgbaston

Morne Morkel takes a cheeky jab at Harry Brook after England’s poor start in chase of 608 against India at Edgbaston.

India are just seven wickets away from making history at Edgbaston. After setting a huge 608-run target, they left England struggling at 72 for 3 by stumps on Day 4 of the second Test.

Speaking after the day’s play, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel took a cheeky dig at England’s middle-order batter Harry Brook.

“Harry Brook said yesterday that they would go for the chase — we’re in for an exciting day of cricket,” Morkel said, with a smile.

The comment was light but clearly aimed at Brook’s bold talk, considering England now need over 500 more runs to win.

When asked about the timing of India’s declaration, Morkel explained:

“We did have a lot of discussions during the day. It’s a good wicket and you can’t really control the weather. We were aiming for 2–3 wickets today, and we managed to get them.”

India declared their second innings at 427 for 6, giving themselves around four sessions to bowl England out. Siraj, Akash Deep, and the rest of the bowling unit will now aim to finish the job on the final day.

A win here would mark India’s first-ever Test victory at Edgbaston, and with England still needing 536 runs and seven wickets in hand, the odds are clearly in India’s favour.
