The first ODI match was played between Pakistan and Zimbabwe on Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan where Babar Azam led side won the match by 26 runs.
Earlier in this match, Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Pakistan team posted 281 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Chasing 282, Zimbabwe could manage only 255 runs in 49.4 overs and lost by 26 runs.
Zimbabwe’s wicketkeeper-batsman Brandon Taylor played brilliant innings of 112 off 117 balls, but could not lead his side to victory. This was Taylor’s 11th century in ODI cricket and in this innings, he hit 11 fours and 3 sixes. Wesley also played a half-century innings of 55 runs. Pakistan’s bowlers bowled brilliantly against Zimbabwe. Haris Rauf took three wickets while Shaheen Afridi and Wahab Riaz took two wickets each.
In this match, Pakistan batted first and scored well against Zimbabwe and Haris Sohail and Imam-ul-Haq contributed much for their side. Imam scored 58 runs while Haris played a half-century innings of 71 to play a big role in bringing the team’s score to 281. Captain Babar Azam was disappointed and he scored only 19 runs.
Talking about the other Pakistan batsmen, Abid Ali scored 21 runs, wicketkeeper Rizwan scored 14 runs, Iftikhar Ahmed scored 12 runs, Faheem Ashraf scored 23 runs and Imad Wasim scored 34 runs. Wahab Riaz scored 8 runs while Shaheen Afridi returned unbeaten with the same number of runs.
