I Wouldn’t Say I am a Gifted Player: Shreyas Iyer

After registering a victorious win against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday, Delhi Capitals (DC) reached the top of the points table with six points. Later in a post-match conference, Iyer said that it was important for him to take time at the beginning of his innings which he couldn’t in the previous match. He also feels that it is his smart work that paid off and he wouldn’t call himself a gifted player.

“It was really necessary for me to take time at the start which I did in the earlier games as well. It was the right time for me to take on the bowlers and then rotate the strike as well after that. Luckily it worked out for me. I know the hard work and the smart work I have put in through my gym sessions, so I wouldn’t say I am a gifted player,” Iyer said.

“We keep talking about close victories and this was one of them. Really satisfied with the way everyone stepped up.”

Delhi Capitals will now lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday in Dubai.
