After opting to bat first, they bowled out Zimbabwe a meagre total of 161 in 38.1 overs. The Men in Blue, in reply, chased down the target in 25.4 overs and with five wickets in hand.
The wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson scored the winning runs for India as he remained unbeaten for 39-ball 43.
Earlier, for Zimbabwe, Sean Williams and Ryan Burl were the only batters who could go past the 30-run mark. While Williams scored run-a-ball 42, Burl remained unbeaten for 39 off 47 deliveries.
On the bowling front, Shardul Thakur shined with the ball, picking up three wickets in his spell of seven overs. The remaining bowlers returned with a wicket each.
Chasing a paltry target of 162, team India was jolted immediately as they lost their skipper and opener, KL Rahul for just one. However, after that, it was all one-way traffic.
Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill both whacked 33 runs each while Deepak Hooda accumulated 25 of 36. However, it was Samson who took the team over the finish line by smashing a towering six.
Man of the Match:
Sanju Samson has been named man of the match of the second ODI for his stunning unbeaten knock of 43 off 39 deliveries.
