KKR Coach Chandrakant Pandit Explodes at Star Overseas Player for Dining With Rival Team Player

Tension brews in the KKR camp as coach Chandrakant Pandit clashes with an overseas player over dining with a rival team cricketer.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are struggling to find their rhythm this season, and things are not looking smooth behind the scenes either.

A fresh controversy has emerged involving head coach Chandrakant Pandit, who reportedly pulled up one of the team’s overseas players for having dinner with a rival team player.

According to RevSportz, Pandit overlooked the fact that the so-called “rival” was actually the overseas star’s national teammate.

KKR’s problems this season go beyond just their position on the points table. With only four wins in 10 matches, they are stuck at the 7th spot and face a tough road ahead in the playoff race.

KKR had made some coaching changes after Gautam Gambhir left to take over an Indian national team role. Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar also went with him. But after Nayar’s stint with the national team ended, KKR wasted no time bringing him back. Since then, Nayar has been working closely with the players again.

Last season, when KKR lifted the IPL 2024 trophy, several players openly credited Gambhir and Nayar for their guidance and support. However, Chandrakant Pandit didn’t receive the same kind of public praise from the squad.

Meanwhile, this not the first time Pandit has landed in controversy. Last year, during a practice session, he cut off Varun Chakravarthy’s shirt sleeves using scissors because of a team policy that required players to wear sleeveless shirts for that particular session.

Such incidents have only intensified the spotlight on Pandit’s management style. Even though he led Madhya Pradesh to their first-ever Ranji Trophy title in 2022, the current situation at KKR has left many wondering about his methods and their effect on the team’s atmosphere.
