DC vs SRH Qualifier 2: In the second qualifier of the 13th season of IPL, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 17 runs. With this, Delhi has made it to the league finals for the first time where they will compete with defending champion Mumbai on 10 November.
While winning the toss in the match played in Abu Dhabi, Delhi gave Hyderabad a target of 190 runs. In reply, Hyderabad could only score 172 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Kane Williamson made his 15th fifty in the IPL. He scored 67 runs with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes. Abdul Samad scored 33 runs. Kagiso Rabada Delhi took 4 wickets while Marcus Stoinis 3 and Akshar Patel took one wicket.
Williamson’s Second Fifty in Knockout Game
Kane Williamson (67), hits his 15th fifty in the IPL. Stoinis dismissed him and his brilliant catch was taken by Kagiso Rabada at the boundary line. Williamson is the first and overall 6th batsman of this season to have 2 fifties in the knockout (play-off). Previously this was done by Dwayne Smith in 2013, Suresh Raina in 2014, Lendl Simmons in 2015, David Warner in 2016 and Shane Watson in 2019.
Hyderabad Lost 3 Wickets in 5 Overs
Hyderabad didn’t get the type of start they wanted to chase a huge target of 190 runs in a knock-out game. Captain David Warner, Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey continued to walk back to the pavilion in the matter of first 5 overs. Warner was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada on a personal score of 2 runs. After this, Priyam Garg (17) and Manish Pandey (21) were dismissed by Marcus Stoinis in the fifth over of the innings.
Delhi Scored 189 For 3 Wickets
Delhi scored 189 for 3 wickets in 20 overs thanks to Shikhar Dhawan’s 78 runs inning. Shikhar made his 41st fifty in the IPL. This is their first 50+ score in playoff matches. He scored the highest 78 runs. Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 42 runs. For Hyderabad, Sandeep Sharma, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan got 1-1 wickets.
Dhawan Became First Indian to Hit Most Number of Fifty in IPL
Shikhar Dhawan became the batsman with the highest number of fifty (41) IPL. After Dhawan, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli who made 39 fifties in the league. Hyderabad captain David Warner (48) holds the record of highest fifty in IPL. At the same time, Dhawan has scored more than 600 runs in the season including 2 centuries.
Holder Dropped Stoinis Catch
Jason Holder dropped a catch of Marcus Stoinis in the third over of the innings. Stoinis was batting at 3 runs at the time. He then batted fearlessly and made 38 runs thereafter. In the second over of the holder, Stoinis hits 18 runs, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. He along with Dhawan added 65 runs in the power-play.
86 Runs Opening Partnership for Delhi
Stoinis and Dhawan made 86 runs opening partnership for the first wicket. Stoinis was dismissed at 38 runs. He hit 5 fours and a six. He was bowled by Rashid Khan.
Captain Iyer Departs Early
Captain Shreyas Iyer could not do anything special in this match and scored just 21 runs. He played 20 balls and was able to hit only one four. He was dismissed by Jason Holder. In Qualifier 1 against Mumbai Indians Iyer didn’t even score a single run.

Marcus Stoinis is adjudged Man of the Match for her brilliant knock of 38 runs of 27 deliveries and a fantastic spell of 3/26 in 3 overs.
