Delhi Capitals (DC) Beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs to register their second consecutive win in the seventh match of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chennai suffered their second consecutive defeat in IPL 2020.
Three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were defeated by Delhi Capitals (DC) by 44 runs in the 7th match of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In this match played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Delhi Capitals scored 175 runs losing 3 wickets in the prescribed 20 overs, in which opener Prithvi Shaw contributed the maximum of 64 runs. He got well support from his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan (35 runs off 27) who played with more caution upfront but more than made for it once the field restriction was over.
Chennai team could score 131 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 44 runs. Chennai Super Kings suffered their second consecutive defeat in IPL 2020.
Chennai Super Kings got off to a slow start as they lost both their openers Shane Watson and Murali Vijay inside the powerplay. Watson got out to Axar Patel while Vijay was knocked by Anrich Nortje. Ruturaj Gaikwad who came into bat at No. 4 got run out after scoring just five runs.
Half of the Chennai Super Kings team returned to the pavilion for 113 when Faf du Plessis (43) was caught by Rishabh Pant behind the wicket off Kagiso Rabada. Du Plessis hit 4 fours in his innings of 35 balls.
Chennai suffered the fourth setback as Kedar Jadhav (26) and was victimized by Nortje. Jadhav scored 26 runs off 21 balls with the help of 3 fours. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni landed at-bat at No.6.
Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets in the final over of the innings. He got Mahendra Singh Dhoni (15) caught by Rishabh Pant on the second ball while Ravindra Jadeja was caught by Amit Mishra (12) on the last ball. Dhoni hit 2 fours off 12 balls while Jadeja hit 1 four off 9 balls.
Change in Both Teams
A change has been made to the Chennai Super Kings squad and pacer Josh Hazlewood has been included in place of Lungi Ngidi. At the same time, there are two changes in the Delhi team, Amit Mishra has been replaced by off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Avesh Khan has been replaced in the team instead of Mohit Sharma.
