IND vs NZ: Michael Vaughan Shares A Valuable Piece of Advice For ‘Outdated Team India’
IND vs NZ: Team India played only five bowlers against New Zealand in the first ODI in Auckland.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan suggested team India to pick a minimum of six bowlers in their lineup against the top teams to win matches.
The Shikhar Dhawan-led team India suffered a seven wickets defeat at the hands of Kane Williamson-led New Zealand on Friday, November 25.
India played five bowlers in Auckland, which backfired them big time. Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer took to Twitter saying that India ‘missed a trick’ by not playing an extra bowling option.
Jaffer also lavished praise on New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson (94*) and Tom Latham (145*), who registered the highest-ever individual score by a New Zealand batter in ODIs.
“Well played @BLACKCAPS???????? Made 300 look like 270. Williamson all class as always but Latham stole the show. Not easy for an opener to move down the order and still be successful. India missed a trick by just playing 5 bowlers,”Jaffer wrote on Twitter.
Vaughan, while replying to Jaffer’s tweet went on to target team India for being an outdated ODI team and suggested them to play with at least six or seven bowling options against the top teams to win matches.
“They are a dated ODI team… you need at least 6 if not 7 bowling options,” Vaughan tweeted.
As for the match, India posted 306 runs for the loss of seven wickets after being asked to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer scored half-centuries.
New Zealand, in reply, chased down the target with 17 balls to spare after Williamson and Latham stitched together a record 221-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
