Smriti Mandhana Breaks Mithali Raj’s Record, Creates History in Women’s Asia Cup

Smriti Mandhana produced a stunning innings in India’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 clash, breaking multiple records with a career-best 124 off 64 balls.

The Indian opener smashed 14 fours and seven sixes at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to help India post 193/5 in 20 overs.

Mandhana started carefully, scoring 18 runs from her first 18 balls. She then shifted gears and joined Shafali Verma, who scored 28 off 17 balls, in a 74-run opening partnership.

She reached her half-century from 40 balls before launching a spectacular attack. Mandhana scored her next 50 runs in just 17 deliveries to bring up her second T20I century.

Her 124 became the highest individual score in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history. The knock also gave India a strong total after Mandhana dominated the attack in the final stages of the innings.

Mandhana breaks Mithali Raj’s record

The innings also saw Mandhana create history in women’s international cricket. She went past Mithali Raj’s tally of 10,868 international runs to become the highest run-scorer in the history of the women’s game.

Mandhana also moved past Meg Lanning’s tally of 17 international centuries. Her century was her 18th across international cricket, giving her the record for the most centuries in women’s international cricket.

The 29-year-old’s record-breaking knock added another major chapter to her international career and underlined her importance to India’s batting line-up.

With India reaching 193/5, Mandhana’s explosive finish gave the team a strong platform in Match 7 of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026.
