Gunmen Open Fire at Naseem Shah’s Home in Pakistan; Pacer Stays With National Team
Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah’s house was attacked by unidentified gunmen in Lower Dir, but the cricketer stayed with the national team ahead of the Sri Lanka series
In a shocking incident, Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah’s family home in Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, came under fire from unidentified assailants.
According to reports, the gunmen opened fire at the gate of the cricketer’s residence in the early hours of Monday before fleeing the scene. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Despite the chilling attack, the 21-year-old pacer showed remarkable composure, choosing to stay with the national team in Rawalpindi as Pakistan prepare for their home ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Reports suggest Naseem’s father has already met with the local police, who have assured a swift investigation into the matter.
It remains unclear whether any of Naseem’s two younger brothers, both professional cricketers, were at home during the incident.
His brother Hunain, who made headlines with the winning run in Islamabad United’s 2024 PSL triumph, recently featured in a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match.
The youngest brother, Ubaid, who represents Multan Sultans, also played in the domestic competition earlier this month.
Unfazed by the incident, Naseem has continued training and was included in Pakistan’s playing XI for the opening ODI against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
