Joburg Buffaloes rode on Yusuf Pathan’s batting masterclass to beat Durban Qalandars by six wickets in the first qualifier of the Zim Afro T10 to book a place in the final of the tournament.
In the highest-scoring encounter, the Durban Qalandars, after choosing to bat first, posted a mammoth total of 140 runs on the scoreboard, losing four wickets in the allocated 10 overs.
In reply, Joburg had a disastrous start, losing their top-order batters cheaply, and found themselves reeling at 56/3 in just 4.5 overs.
It was then that Yusuf Pathan rose to the occasion, delivering an extraordinary performance of unbeaten 80 runs from just 26 balls, featuring four boundaries and eight sixes, leading his team to victory in 9.5 overs.
In a fearless display of batting, the former India all-rounder tapped into his inner beast and went on a rampage against Pakistan’s pacer Mohammad Amir, plundering an astounding 24 runs off a single over.
