Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Sam Curran had an average day with the ball as conceded 58 runs in his four overs and scalped only one wicket but that one wicket was probably the game-changer for the men in yellow, as it was the crucial wicket of Kolkata Knight Riders’ hard-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell.
The Knight Riders were in all sorts of trouble when Andre Russell walked out in the middle. The Eoin Morgan-led side was reeling at 31 for five with all top guns back in the hut in pursuit of 221 runs. While many thought that it was the only time Kolkata lose the match, the big man arrived at the scene and took the entire space by storm.
Russell smashed 54 off 22 balls and gave CSK a scare while he was in the middle at the Wankhede. His innings comprised of six monstrous sixes and three fours.
With Shardul Thakur’s first over going for 24 and Ravindra Jadeja also going for runs, MS Dhoni decided to bring Sam Curran into the attack.
Curran bowled a length ball on the leg-stump line and Russell shuffled across inside the line but decided to let it go thinking that it was a leg-side wide, however, it was not to be as the ball crashed into the topof the leg-stump and the bowler let out a roar to let everyone know that he got the big wicket, and as it turned out the game-changing wicket of the match.
Curran’s bluff impressed the fans on Twitter, who went gaga over their youngest Super King. Here are some of the reactions:
As long as the match is concerned, Chennai Super Kings won it by 18 runs. They have won 3 matches out of 4 so far. They have jumped to the top spot in the points table with 6 points. The MS Dhoni-led side will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next game. The match will be played on April 25 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
