The injury happened while bowling in the final group state match against Hong Kong in Sharjah on Friday (September 2). Dahani is under PCB’s medical supervision and they haven’t announced any replacement yet.
“Shahnawaz Dahani will not be available for Sunday’s ACC T20 Asia Cup Super-4 match against India due to a suspected side strain. The injury happened while bowling in the match against Hong Kong in Sharjah on Friday,” PCB was quoted as saying in a statement.
“As is the case with any suspected side strain injury, the medical team will monitor him for the next 48-72 hours, following which they will make decisions, including carrying out a scan and further participation in the tournament,” he added.
Pakistan earlier suffered a huge blow when their ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out of the entire Asia Cup 2022 owing to his knee injury that he sustained while playing against Sri Lanka.
Later, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Mohammad Hasnain as Shaheen’s replacement in the squad. Fast bowler Mohammad Wasim was also ruled out of the ongoing tournament and Hasan Ali was named as his replacement.
Pakistan will next take on Men in Blue in the Super Four stage on Sunday, September 4 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. India had earlier beaten Pakistan by 5 wickets in the group stage encounter.
