Ishan Kishan Trolled After Pic With Pakistani Cricketer Goes Viral

India’s Ishan Kishan and Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas share a rare dressing room moment in County cricket, uniting for Nottinghamshire and going viral amid cross-border tensions

India and Pakistan may be bitter cricketing rivals on the international stage, but County cricket has once again proved that the game can build bridges.

A recent social media post by Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas featuring India’s wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has taken the internet by storm.

Abbas & Ishan Kishan Share a Moment in County Cricket

The two players are currently representing Nottinghamshire in the ongoing County Championship.

During their Division One fixture against Yorkshire, Abbas and Kishan combined to dismiss Adam Lyth for a golden duck, Kishan completing the catch off Abbas’s delivery. But it was what happened after the match that truly went viral.

Abbas shared pictures with Kishan on his official social media handle, and the post has gone viral across India and Pakistan. It comes at a sensitive time, just months after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir.

Rare Indo-Pak Dressing Room Pair

Instances of Indian and Pakistani players sharing a dressing room are rare. Only a handful of such moments have occurred in the history of County cricket.

The last time it happened was in 2022 when Cheteshwar Pujara and Mohammad Rizwan played together for Sussex.

Before that, legends like Bishan Singh Bedi, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, and Harbhajan Singh featured in County squads alongside Pakistani players like Mushtaq Mohammad, Azhar Mahmood, and Mohammad Akram.

Kishan’s Bright Start in England

Ishan Kishan, who is playing on a short-term contract in place of South Africa’s Kyle Verreynne, started strong with a brilliant 87-run knock on debut.

Speaking after his debut, the young Indian cricketer said that the County experience will help him grow and become a more complete player.

“I’m feeling very excited to get my first taste of playing county cricket in England,” Kishan said.

“Playing in English conditions will really help me to learn new skills.”
