After losing their first match against Delhi Capitals in a super over, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will take on RCB in their second match at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday. Against Delhi Capitals, Punjab had chased down the target of 158 runs on Mayank Agarwal’s innings of 89 off 60 balls. The rest of the Punjab batsmen could not leave their mark, but Mayank, while holding one end, had given Punjab access to the target on his own.
First, it seemed that KL Rahul led Kings XI Punjab team would win the match. When Punjab needed 1 run off 3 balls, then Punjab lost 2 wickets on the last 2 balls and the match went into a super over in which Delhi Capitals won easily.
In the first match, ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle did not get a place in Planning XI. In this match, the team management can adopt a strategy to strengthen the middle order by bringing him to number three. In bowling, Mohammed Shami will once again try to continue the same form he showed in the first match. Shami took 3 wickets for 15 runs in the first match.
On the other hand, Kohli led RCB, will be confident after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first match. RCB also has its own problems, especially in fast bowling. South Africa’s Dale Steyn had taken the wicket but this 37-year-old player was not even close to his best performance. Umesh Yadav was disappointed for 48 runs and could not take wickets either.
Navdeep Saini and Shivam Dubey also did nothing special. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal had used the conditions very well and proved to be a game-changer in the match with 3 wickets. So far away from the trophy, RCB will hope for another great opening partnership from Devdutt Paddikkal and Aaron Finch in batting. Padikkal impressed in the first match itself and scored 56 runs off 42 balls. In the middle order, the team has captain Kohli and AB de Villiers. In such a situation, another good match can be expected.
