After the conclusion of the cash-rich league, many cricket experts and analyst are coming up with their teams or playing XI of the tournament.
Meanwhile, former England skipper Nasser Hussain’s name has also been added in the list as he announced his team of the tournament.
Nasser Hussain’s Team of the Tournament:
While selecting a team for Sky Sports, Hussain has picked star players for his IPL 2020 team of the tournament. For openers’ he selected the two highest run-scorer of the tournament, KL Rahul of Kings XI Punjab and Shikhar Dhawan of Delhi Capitals. While KL Rahul is top in the tally of the highest run-scorer with 670 runs in 14 games and holds the Orange Cap with him, Shikhar Dhawan is second in the tally with 618 runs in 17 matches.
“It’s not just the runs they get,” Hussain said of his openers. “These two openers are so pleasing on the eye. T20 is about muscle and hitting the ball but it’s also about stroking the ball and Dhawan and Rahul had magnificent tournaments.
“Rahul, I think, is one of the best white-ball players going at the moment. He is a good lesson for any young boy or girl about how to strike a cricket ball and not over-hit it. Rahul strokes it beautifully,” he added.
At Number three, he picked Mumbai Indians’ veteran batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, who has earned praises from many cricket experts throughout the tournament. SKY has accumulated 480 runs in 16 games.
For the next two batting spots, the former cricketer picked Mumbai Indians’ young star batsman Ishan Kishan and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s AB de Villiers. Kishan scored 516 runs this season while de Villiers finished IPL 2020 with 454 runs. Ishan Kishan is also the batsman with the most number of sixes (30) in the season.
At Number six, he preferred going with Mumbai Indians’ star all-rounder Hardik Pandya who scored 281 runs at a strike-rate of 178.98. For number seven, he picked Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Jofra Archer, who took 20 wickets in the tournament. He was also awarded the ‘Most Valuable Player of the Season’.
For bowling attack, he picked three pacers, Delhi Capitals’ Kagiso Rabada, Mumbai Indians’ Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. Lastly, giving a sole place to the spinner, he picked SunRisers Hyderabad’s, Rashid Khan.
