IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals Names Captain and Vice-Captain for Upcoming Season
Rishabh Pant will miss the entire IPL 2023 season.
Delhi Capitals, on Thursday, February 23 appointed David Warner as the captain for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant.
In December 2022, Rishabh Pant was involved in a severe car accident, leaving him with significant injuries and sidelining him from cricket for almost a year.
Axar Patel Named Vice-Captain of Delhi Capitals
Axar Patel, who has been in splendid form across formats, has been named the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals for the 16th edition of the cash-rich league.
Warner, who was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League did a brilliant job as an opener for Delhi Capitals.
With five half-centuries and an impressive total of 432 runs in 12 games last season, Warner proved to be a valuable asset to his team. His highest score of 92* (58) came against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The Australian opener is presently experiencing a tough time and has been ruled out of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy owing to an injury. He has returned home and is likely to recuperate before the IPL 2023.
The highly anticipated IPL 2023 season will commence on March 31st at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with defending champions Gujarat Titans facing off against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings.
