The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised the dates for the mega-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. As per reports of Cricbuzz, the mega-auction will be held in Bengaluru between February 12 and 13 next year, with the IPL 2022 season scheduled to be played in the month of April-May.
As two new franchises, one from Lucknow and other from Ahmedabad are set to join the IPL from next season onwards, the BCCI has decided to hold a two-day mega auction wherein the world’s best players will go under the hammer.
The auction was initially scheduled to be held in the first week of January, but got delayed because of the yet-to-be-named Ahmedabad franchise and their pending case. The BCCI is going to meet the team owners soon and the Ahmedabad franchise is likely to get the green signal as per reports.
Earlier this year, the IPL had to be postponed to the United Arab Emirates after COVID-19 cases entered the IPL camps. The event was halted in May after which the second leg took place in the UAE.
