Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a super over in the 35th match of the 13th season of IPL. Lockie Ferguson bowl the super overs for KKR. Ferguson bowled out David Warner (0) and Abdul Samad (2) in the first 3 balls to put Hyderabad 2 runs on the scoreboard. Rashid Khan bowled the super over for Hyderabad in response. KKR’s Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik won the match by scoring 3 runs off 4 balls.
This is the first time in the IPL when three super overs have been played in a season. Till now 12 super overs were played in the tournament. In 2013 and 2019, the match was decided 2–2 times in the Super Over. The team batting first won 5 times out of 12 matches. At the same time, the team batting second could win the match remaining 7 times.
This is the third Super Over of this season. Earlier, the second match of the season played between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab went to Super Over, which Delhi won. At the same time, RCB won in the Super Over, played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.

David Warner Became First Foreign Player to Complete 5000 IPL Runs
Hyderabad’s skipper David Warner became the first foreign player to score 5000 runs in the IPL. He has become the first foreigner and overall fourth player to do achieve this feat. Before him, only 3 players Virat Kohli (5759), Suresh Raina (5368) and Rohit Sharma (5149) could touch the figure of 5000 runs.

Warner has completed 5000 runs in 135 innings. He became the first player to do so. In this case, he beats Virat Kohli (157 innings), Suresh Raina (173 innings) and Rohit Sharma (187 innings).
Williamson Replaced Warner to Open for Hyderabad
Kane Williamson opened the innings with Johnny Bairstow replacing David Warner. Both gave the team a great start and scored 58 runs in the power-play. Lockie Ferguson broke this dangerous partnership for KKR. He dismissed Williamson (29 runs) caught by Nitish Rana.
SRH Innings Faltered With Williamson’s Wicket
After Williamson Lockie Ferguson dismissed Priyam Garg (4 runs). After this, Bairstow was also dismissed for 36 by Varun Chakraborty. Manish Pandey also could not do anything special and was dismissed for 6 runs. He was also bowled by Ferguson. Ferguson took 3 wickets.

Fantastic Start for KKR
Kolkata openers Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi got KKR off to a good start. Both added 48 runs for the team in the power-play. On the last ball of the sixth over, Rahul Tripathi scored 23 runs and was dismissed by T Natarajan.
Gill and Rana Could Not Convert Into Big Scores
KKR’s Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana give a good start. However, both could not convert this start into a big score. Gill scored 36 off 37 deliveries. He was dismissed by Rashid Khan. After this, Rana was also out on the ball of Vijay Shankar on an individual score of 29 runs.
Russell’s Poor Form Continued
Andre Russell’s poor form continued throughout the season. Russell scored just 9 runs off 11 balls. Russell has scored just 92 runs in 8 matches at an average of 11.50. His highest score has been 24, which he scored against Rajasthan Royals.
Clean Chit to Sunil Narine
A few hours before the match, there was news of relief for KKR. The team’s key bowler Sunil Narine was given a clean chit by the IPL’s suspected Bowling Action Committee. On October 10, after a match played against Kings XI Punjab, Narine was put on the warning list after the umpires complained. Narine did not play against Mumbai and Bengaluru after that. However, he was denied a place in the playing eleven due to lack of fitness.
