IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Sign Afghan Opener Sediqullah Atal as Harry Brook’s Replacement
Delhi Capitals have signed Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal as a replacement for Harry Brook for the remainder of IPL 2025.

Delhi Capitals have officially named Afghanistan’s young batting sensation, Sediqullah Atal, as the replacement for Harry Brook in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Brook, who pulled out of the tournament for the second year in a row, left a vacant spot in the squad, which the franchise has now filled as they aim to strengthen their batting unit for the crucial phase ahead.
Atal, just 23 years old, joins the Delhi camp for a fee of ₹1.25 crore. Known for his solid performances at the international level, he grabbed headlines recently with a fine knock against Australia in the Champions Trophy 2025. In his T20 career so far, Atal has played 49 matches, scoring 1,507 runs at an average of 34.25 and a strike rate of 131.27 — numbers that suggest he could be a valuable addition for DC.
Welcoming Atal to the team, Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani said, “We are excited to welcome Atal to the Delhi Capitals. He is an exciting, young talent who has impressed everyone with his performances for both the Afghanistan youth and senior teams. Going into this important phase of the tournament, his presence will certainly add depth to our batting lineup.”
Delhi Capitals started the season strong but have seen a dip in form in recent matches. They are currently sitting in fifth place on the points table, with six wins, four losses, and one no result from their 11 matches so far. With only three league games remaining, DC will be hoping that Atal’s inclusion provides the boost they need to push for a spot in the playoffs.
