According to the BCCI statement on Tuesday, Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Ali Khan has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2020.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had included Ali Khan in the team as a fast bowler but now he has to be out of the tournament due to injury. Ali Khan became the first cricketer from the USA to be a part of the IPL.
Ali Khan was named in the squad in place of England paceman Harry Gurney, who ruled himself out of the league to undergo shoulder surgery. However, Ali Khan could not get a match to play.
“…Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Ali Khan as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney. Khan became the first USA cricketer to be signed up by an IPL franchise. Unfortunately, Khan has since been injured and will miss the rest of the Dream11 IPL 2020 season,” the statement read.
KKR owner Shahrukh Khan has included Ali Khan in the team after observing his great performances for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League. In eight matches, he took eight wickets as TKR, a team owned by the same parent company as KKR, lifted the trophy-winning all their 12 matches.
Meanwhile, Ali Khan is the fourth player who ruled out of IPL 2020 after being injured. SunRisers Hyderabad all-rounder Mitchell Marsh had also injured himself in his season opener. Later, Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals also injured himself and ruled out for the entire season.
Then SRH also lost the services of their key bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has a thigh injury.
