India’s 15-Member Squad For T20 World 2021 Announced; Yuzvendra Chahal Misses Out
The BCCI selection committee announced the India squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee, on Wednesday announced India’s squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup.
As expected KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma are the first-choice opening pair at the T20 World Cup, with skipper Virat Kohli to follow at the No. 3 spot. Kohli had himself also expressed an interest in opening the innings and had done so too against England in the home series. Considering Rahul’s form, however, Kohli is unlikely to open the innings.
For the middle order, the selection committee showed trust in Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan. KL Rahul is the second wicket-keeping option with Pant also making it to the squad.
For all rounding options, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja have got a nod. As Hardik Pandya has resumed bowling, he will be one of the must picks among all rounders. Ravindra Jadeja has been selected on the back of his finishing role. He has been impressive with the bat in the last few matches he played.
Coming to the pace department, the committee picked some expected names in the squad: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Spin unit has seen Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel and Rahul Chahar making it to the squad.
Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar are the stand by players for the upcoming mega event.
