The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season will start from March 26 and final will be played on May 29, Cricbuzz reported. The decision was taken at the IPL Governing Council (GC) on Thursday (February 24) evening.
IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the tournament’s start date.
“The IPL will kick off on March 26, the full schedule will come soon. We will also have crowds but as per the policy of the Maharashtra government. Whether it will be 25 or 50 percent of the stadium capacity will be decided by the government instruction,” he told Cricbuzz.
This year 10 teams will take part in the tournament and a total of 74 matches will be played in the tournament.
If reports are to be believed, the tournament will be held in Maharashtra, at 3 stadiums in Mumbai and one stadium in Pune. The three stadiums that will host 55 matches in total are the Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium. The remaining 15 games will be held at the MCA International Stadium in Pune.
The website further reported that the tournament will not be held behind closed doors this year and crowd will be allowed.
