The Indian team suffered a setback before the tour of Australia. A support staff of Team India has tested positive for the COVID-19. He had to leave for Dubai on Sunday with other staff to join the team India but as he got positive for COVID-19, he will remain in quarantine for 14 days after his COVID-19 report comes negative.
Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach R Sridhar and manager Girish Dongre reached Dubai on Sunday before leaving for Australia. Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari along with Shastri also reached Dubai, where they are placed in a separate bio bubble. After the IPL ends on November 10, Team India will leave for Australia directly from UAE from the chartered plane. After this, they will have to stay there for 14 days quarantine.
India has to play four Tests and three ODIs and T20s. The first two ODIs will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 27 and 29 November. After this, the last ODI will be held at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The first T20 will also be played in Canberra followed by the last two T20s in Sydney. The pink ball test will be played in the floodlight in Adelaide from December 17 to 21.
Players’ Demand to Take Family to Australia
Indian players have demanded the BCCI to take the family on Australia tour. However, nothing has been said on this from the board so far. At the same time, some players have called their family to the UAE. They will have to stay quarantined for 6 days in the UAE. Only then will they be allowed to enter the bio bubble.
The BCCI named KL Rahul as vice-captain of the limited-overs sides in the absence of Rohit Sharma. The statement was issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India after the selection of the team of the three formats going on tour to Australia. It said BCCI medical team is constantly monitoring the injury of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma.
Ishant Sharma ruled out of the IPL-2020 due to a rib injury. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, got injured while playing against Kings XI Punjab and is currently suffering from a hamstring injury.
