Young pacer Shivam Mavi made a dream debut for India in the 1st T20I against Sri Lanka on Tuesday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Uttar Pradesh pacer bagged four wicket haul while conceding just 22 runs in his complete four overs quota as Team India won the match by just two runs in a last-ball thriller.
Mavi provided a flying start to the Men in Blue by taking two crucial wickets in the Powerplay, sending back Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya de Silva. He then returned to break a crucial 40-run stand, dismissing Wanindu Hasaranga (21 off 10 balls) in the 15th over.
The right-arm quick then dismissed Maheesh Theekshana in his final over to complete the four-wicket haul. With this, he became one of the only three bowlers for India to take four wickets on men’s T20I debut. Barinder Sran and Pragyan Ojha are the other two men cricketers who have managed to achieve this feat on their T20I debut for India.
