Host Australia after their 51-run win in the second ODI against India at Sydney Cricket Ground has taken an unassailable lead in the 3-match ODI series. The Aussie captain Aaron Finch, once again won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, the Australian side posted a mammoth score of 389/4 on the scoreboard.
Steve Smith was the highest run-scorer of the Australian team as he smashed 104 off just 64 balls. Aaron Finch (60), David Warner (83), Glenn Maxwell (63* off 29) and Marnus Labuschagne (70) also got among the runs for Australia.
In reply, Team India failed to achieve the target and fell 51 runs short against Australia. From team India, skipper Virat Kohli (89 off 87) was the highest run-scorer. He scored his first half-century at this venue after 6 failed innings. In the same match, he also achieved a milestone of completing the fastest 22,000 international runs.
India has now lost 6 out of 8 ODIs, under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, played in 2020. With so much disappointment, fans have now started questioning the brand of cricket that India is following under the leadership of Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri.
Few even demanded a change in Indian captaincy as they asked for Rohit Sharma to be named captain in limited-overs.
