PAK vs BAN: Babar Azam Records First Ever Duck in Home Test Matches
Babar Azam registered a two-ball duck against Bangladesh in the first Test.
Babar Azam, the former Test captain of Pakistan, was out for a duck on just two balls against Bangladesh in the first Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Notably, this is Babar Azam’s first-ever duck in Test cricket at home. Following a duck against Zimbabwe in Harare, he had played 36 innings without being dismissed for a duck before today’s match. This is his eighth duck in 95 Test innings.
Babar Azam came to bat with Pakistan at 14 for 2, as the green pitch at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium continued to favour Bangladesh’s fast bowlers. Unfortunately, Azam was once again undone by his technique.
On the second ball of the ninth over, Shoriful Islam delivered a back-of-length ball outside the leg stump. Babar Azam, in his trigger movement, attempted to guide the ball but only managed a slight edge. Litton Das stretched fully behind the stumps to secure the catch.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first. The first session of the match was washed out due to rain. However, the second session did not start well for Pakistan. At the time of writing, Pakistan is 51/3 in 14 overs, with Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub showing promise.
