New Era Begins! West Indies Name Roston Chase as Test Captain

Roston Chase has been named the new captain of the West Indies Test team, marking his return after more than two years.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed Roston Chase as the new captain of the West Indies Test team. The 33-year-old all-rounder will start his captaincy journey in the upcoming match, which will also be his 50th Test appearance.

Interestingly, Chase last played a Test match more than two and a half years ago, against South Africa in Johannesburg.

CWI Confirms Chase as Test Captain

CWI President Kishore Shallow called this selection one of the most detailed and future-focused decisions the board has made. He praised the strategic thinking behind it and hoped it would set a new standard for leadership in West Indies cricket.

“This selection process is one of the most comprehensive and forward-thinking we have undertaken,” said Shallow. “It sets a new benchmark for leadership appointments in West Indies cricket.”

Head coach Daren Sammy also backed the decision, saying Chase had the respect of the dressing room and possessed the leadership skills to take West Indies forward. Sammy encouraged fans to support the new captain, as the team looks to build something special.

Jomel Warrican Also Included

Alongside Chase, spinner Jomel Warrican has also been named in the red-ball setup. The selectors seem to be focusing on a mix of experience and discipline as they shape the team for future assignments.
