IPL 2023 Auction: Ben Stokes To Submit Name For Mini-Auction – Report
Ben Stokes was Ruled Out of the 2021 edition due to an injury, set to submit his name for IPL 2023 mini-auction.
The two-time World Cup final hero Ben Stokes is set to go under the hammer during the upcoming IPL 2023 auction, the Guardian reported on Monday, November 14.
Stokes’ recent all-around exploits must have caught the eyes of the owners of several IPL franchises as they would be eager to add an experienced all-rounder to their ranks.
Stokes, who recently took retirement from the One Day Internationals to focus on the other formats had withdrawn from the IPL 2022 season, citing workload management.
The 31-year-old featured in just one IPL match for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2021 edition of the cash-rich league before being injured and ruled out for the entire season.
As per a report published in The Guardian, Stokes is interested in playing the IPL 2023, despite knowing that the iconic Ashes series would immediately follow the lucrative league next year.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) To Target Ben Stokes
If reports are to be believed, Punjab Kings are keen to acquire the services of the Talismanic England all-rounder. They will be releasing a plethora of players to expand their overall purse.
The 2014 IPL finalists are set to release Mayank Agarwal [Rs 12 crore], Shahrukh Khan [Rs 9 crore], and Odean Smith [Rs 6 crore] and will enter the auction with a heavy purse.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked all ten teams to submit the list of their retained and released players by November 15. The mini-auction for IPL 2023 will take place on December 23 in Kochi.
