IPL 2020: Virender Sehwag Picks Five Biggest Flops of The Tournament
Virender Sehwag has shared a video on his Facebook page and picked five players, which according to him were proved to be a big flop in the IPL 2020.
The latest edition of the Indian Premier League concluded on Tuesday with Mumbai Indians defeating Delhi Capitals in the final game by five wickets. After the conclusion of the tournament, many cricket experts and analyst are coming forward with their opinions regarding players and the teams. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and legend Virender Sehwag is not behind as he opened up and picked five players who failed in the tournament and couldn’t play to their worth.
Virender Sehwag has shared a video on his Facebook page and picked five players, which according to him were proved to be a big flop in the cash-rich league.
Sehwag firstly picked Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Aaron Finch, as one of the biggest flops of IPL 2020. The veteran said that Finch didn’t meet the expectations of the fans and he couldn’t perform the way he is known for. He accumulated 268 runs in 12 games including one half-century.
“Aaron Finch, I gave him my name as a nickname, thinking he would be Viru to Thakur Kohli. Instead, it looks like the Bangalore curse affected him badly and the engine of his batting stalled this season,” Sehwag said.
Sehwag was also disappointed with West Indies veteran Andre Russell’s performance in the tournament. He feels that the west Indies batsman muscles remained ‘lazy’ this time and he couldn’t maintain the momentum after playing some good innings in the start.
“Andre Russell’s muscles remained lazy this season and slept after giving us hopes in every innings. Because of that Kolkata didn’t make it to the playoffs this season.”
We Had High Hopes From This Diesel Engine: Virender Sehwag on Shane Watson
Sehwag then added CSK’s Shane Watson’s name in the list, who seemed struggling in the tournament and has announced his retirement from ‘all forms of cricket’ after a disappointing season. Sehwag stated that Aussie player couldn’t meet the expectations of the fans.
“Shane Watson, the Chennai fans and we had high hopes from this Diesel Engine but in this season, even after many kickstarts, it didn’t start properly and as the season ended he said that the vehicle cannot be pulled any longer and retired it.” the 42-year-old said.
This 10 Crore Cheerleader Proved Very Costly For Punjab: Virender Sehwag
Further, the veteran picked Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, who failed to hit a single six in the tournament. Sehwag criticised the player and even called him a ’10 crore cheerleader’. He further said that the Aussie player was enjoying a highly-paid vacation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Glenn Maxwell. This 10 crore cheerleader proved very costly for Punjab. His IPL routine for the last few years has been of shirking from work but this season he broke that record as well. This is what you call a highly paid vacation.”
This Season Instead of The ‘Steyn Gun’ We Got a Homemade Pipe Gun: Virender Sehwag on Dale Steyn
The last in the list was South Africa’s Dale Steyn who was once known for his ‘perfect bowling skills’. Sehwag further stated that he couldn’t believe his eyes seeing him getting hit. He also said that South African bowler has lost his charm and is unlikely to find a buyer for himself in the IPL market henceforth.
“Dale Steyn. There was a time when everyone was afraid of the bullets from the ‘Steyn Gun’ but this season instead of the ‘Steyn Gun’ we got a homemade pipe gun. I could not believe my eyes seeing him getting hit but one thing became clear that we are unlikely to find a buyer for him now in the IPL market.” Virender Sehwag concluded.
