IND vs WI: Virat Kohli’s 76th International Century Shatters Multiple Records – All the Stats You Need to Know
Virat Kohli made his 29th test century and 76th international century overall
Virat Kohli’s century drought in overseas Test matches finally broke as he delivered a spectacular century against West Indies in the second Test at the Port of Spain.
It took the 34-year-old more than four years to achieve this feat since his last overseas Test century in 2018.
It was his 29th test century and 76th international century overall. With this remarkable feat, the cricketer broke multiple records, becoming the first player in history to score a century in his 500th match.
The Delhi-born batter also equalled Jacques Kallis’ record of hitting the second-most centuries against the West Indies across all formats (12).
Kohli also eclipsed the legendary Brian Lara and now holds the fourth position for the most centuries at number four in the history of Test cricket. He stands behind only Sachin Tendulkar (44), Jacques Kallis (35), and Mahela Jayawardene (30) on the elite list.
The 34-year-old has also become only the 3rd non-opening batter after Ricky Ponting and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara to reach 25,000 international runs.
Kohli’s spectacular innings came to an end with a run-out dismissal after scoring a magnificent 121 runs off 206 balls, featuring 11 boundaries. Notably, it marked only the third time he has been run out in his Test career.
