IND vs WI 3rd T20I: Ground Staff Forgets to Draw Power Play Circle, Players Forced to Exit Field
Ground Staff forgot to mark the 30-yard circle/power play circle on the pitch in 3rd T20I
The start of the third T20I match between India and West Indies was postponed briefly due to a lapse by the ground staff, Ground Staff forgot to mark the 30-yard circle on the pitch.
Earlier, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. The opening duo of Brandon King and Kyle Mayers stepped onto the field. Meanwhile, the Indian team also made their way onto the pitch, only to be informed that they should retreat to the dugout momentarily.
Speaking after the toss, West Indies skipper Rovman Powell said they are excited to seal the series with a win in this match. Notably, they lead the five-match T20I series 2-0 currently.
“Looks like a slow surface. Jason Holder picked up a niggle in his knee. The medical staff suggested he get a break. In comes Roston Chase. Guys are very excited. We are on the doorsteps of victory. The guys are very optimistic. Hopefully things go well. It [the plans] becomes very important when you play a team like India,” said Powell.
India’s captain, Hardik Pandya, expressed his comfort with the idea of chasing, stating that they intend to maintain straightforward strategies against Nicholas Pooran, who is currently in the best form of his life.
During the second T20I at the same venue, Pooran notched up 67 runs off 40 balls, including six boundaries and four maximums, playing a massive role in his team’s two-wicket victory.
“Don’t mind chasing. Obviously, I would’ve preferred to bat looking at the surface. Might get slower. It is what it is. Pooran has been batting very well. Would like to keep things simple to him, rather than trying a lot of things,” said Pandya.
