IND vs AUS: Pat Cummins Forced to Leave Australia’s Tour Due to Family Health Emergency

Pat Cummins has traveled back to Australia due to family emergency.

In light of a severe family health issue, Pat Cummins, the captain of the Australian cricket team, has travelled back to Sydney from the ongoing tour of India, after his team’s consecutive losses against India in Delhi.

Cricket Australia’s Statement:

“Pat Cummins has flown home for personal reasons due to a serious family illness. He will return to India later this week to rejoin preparations for the third Test in Indore. We ask media to respect his privacy.”

With two successive wins in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Furthermore, their historic victory over Australia in the 2nd Test at Delhi ensures that they have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time in a row.

Even though he was travelling to Sydney on Sunday, the fast bowler is expected to make a timely return to India to be available for the final two matches in Indore and Ahmedabad.

However, in case Cummins failed to make it to the third Test,  vice-captain Steve Smith will take up the mantle of captaincy for the Indore Test.

Following two demoralising defeats, the Australian team will now take a break to reconsider their plans and strategies before heading into the third Test at Holkar Cricket Stadium.
