ICC Finalises 12 Venues for Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 Across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia
ICC confirms 12 venues for the 2027 Cricket World Cup across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia with a new three-stage format.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially confirmed the 12 host venues for the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup during a launch ceremony in Johannesburg. The tournament will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, bringing the ODI World Cup back to Africa for the first time since the 2003 edition.
The 2027 World Cup will feature 14 teams competing in 57 matches. The ICC also unveiled the tournament’s official theme, “Three Nations, One Heartbeat”, celebrating the partnership between the three host nations.
One of the biggest milestones is Namibia’s role as a host nation. It will be the country’s first time hosting a senior ICC global event, marking an important step in the growth of cricket in the region.
Host venues confirmed
South Africa will host matches at eight venues: Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, SuperSport Park in Centurion, Newlands in Cape Town, Kingsmead in Durban, St George’s Park in Gqeberha, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, Boland Park in Paarl, and Buffalo Park in East London.
Zimbabwe will stage games at Harare Sports Club, Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, and the newly built Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium.
Namibia’s matches will be played in Windhoek, making it the country’s first World Cup venue.
The ICC also confirmed the tournament format. The competition will be played in three stages to keep teams in contention for longer.
The opening Super Series will divide teams into Groups A, B, and C, with lower-ranked sides battling to qualify for the next round. The second stage will feature two groups of six teams, before the best sides progress to the Super 7s stage. The tournament will then conclude with the knockout rounds to decide the world champion.
With venues now locked in and the tournament identity revealed, preparations for the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup have officially entered the next phase as Africa gets ready to host cricket’s biggest ODI event once again.
