“I Will Play Till…” – RCB Star Virat Kohli Ends Retirement Rumours After Historic IPL Win
Virat Kohli confirmed he is not retiring from IPL and said he will continue playing for RCB till his last day.
The wait is finally over. After 18 long years, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have lifted their maiden IPL trophy, defeating Punjab Kings by six runs in a thrilling final. It was an emotional evening for RCB fans and especially for Virat Kohli, who was seen in tears after the win.
Virat Kohli Clears Retirement Rumours
There had been several rumours that Virat Kohli would walk away from the IPL once RCB won the title. But in a post-match interview, Kohli made it clear that he’s not retiring anytime soon. He said this win is one of the biggest moments of his cricket career and confirmed that he will continue to play for RCB till his last IPL game.
“It’s right up there [among career achievements]. I have given everything for the last 18 years, stayed loyal to this team no matter what. We stood behind each other and I always dreamt of winning with them. My heart and soul is with Bangalore. This is the team I will play for till the last day I play in the IPL. Tonight, I will sleep like a baby,” Kohli said.
RCB Join The Champions List
With this win, RCB now join the list of teams who have lifted the IPL trophy once — a list that includes Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Deccan Chargers, and Gujarat Titans. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians remain the most successful sides with five titles each, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders with three.
How The Final Match Unfolded
Punjab Kings won the toss and chose to bowl first. Their bowlers kept things tight and restricted RCB to a total of 190. It seemed like a manageable target, and PBKS got off to a good start. However, once they lost wickets in the middle overs, the pressure started to build.
Shashank Singh fought hard towards the end, but the required run rate climbed too high. In the end, PBKS fell short by six runs, handing RCB their first-ever IPL championship.
This win was not just about breaking a trophy drought, it was about emotion, loyalty, and the love for a team. And for Virat Kohli, it meant everything.
