England Drop James Anderson And Stuart Broad For West Indies Test Tour: Reports
England’s leading wicket-takers James Anderson and Stuart Broad have been dropped for the upcoming Test series against West Indies.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced the England Test squad for the upcoming three-Test series against West Indies and surprisingly have left out their veteran pace duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad, The Telegraph revealed.
England cricket team is going through a rough patch after they lost Ashes down under as they have also parted ways with head coach Chris Silverwood followed by the resignation of batting coach Graham Thorpe.
A selection panel of interim managing director of men’s cricket Sir Andrew Strauss, interim head coach Paul Collingwood and head scout James Taylor have decided to drop Anderson and Broad for the West Indies tour.
The 39-year old, in december expressed his excited ahead for West Indies tour. He was seeing it as a next challenge and wanted to contribute for England team.
“I just want to keep working hard and I would love to be part of the West Indies tour in March. I see that as my next challenge. Stuff is taken out of my hands in that respect but all I can do is bowl well and keep contributing. I still get enjoyment out of bowling. I still love playing for England. I feel like I can actually help this team move forward. For me, that is why I keep going,” Anderson, wrote for Telegraph Sport in December.
Anderson has 640 wickets in 169 Tests and now it seems that his Test career for England might come to an end. Stuart Broad, on the other hand, has 537 wickets in 152 Test matches.
