ENG vs PAK: Babar Azam Blames Batters for 23-Run Defeat Against England in 2nd T20I
Pakistan was bowled out for 160 runs while chasing 184 runs target against England.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam remained optimistic about his team’s preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup despite a 23-run defeat to England in the second T20I at Edgbaston.
England posted a formidable 183 runs on the board, with Jos Buttler leading the charge with a stellar 84. Pakistan’s chase fell short, as they were bowled out for 160 runs all out.
In the post-match conference, Babar addressed concerns about Pakistan’s batting, particularly the lack of partnerships. He emphasised that the top-order batting positions are flexible and will be determined based on specific matchups.
“Our bowlers bowled well, but our batting was lacking,” Azam said. “Our top four is flexible and decided before each match. Fakhar [Zaman] was impressive.”
Babar Azam also expressed his faith in all-rounder Shadab Khan, who had an underwhelming performance in the match, conceding 55 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.
“Imad [Wasim] is a clever bowler, and Shadab is one of our best,” Azam asserted. “Our team is mostly settled ahead of the World Cup.”
Despite the loss, the Pakistan batter maintained that the team is mostly settled for the World Cup. The upcoming matches of the T20I series against England will be crucial for Pakistan to fine-tune their strategies and solidify their combinations before the World Cup commences.
