Babar Azam Hits Back At Media For Asking Questions on Lack of Intent Following Pakistan’s Series Loss to England
Pakistan lost T20I series against England.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam finds himself under fire after the team’s disappointing 2-0 series defeat against England, just ahead of the marquee T20 World Cup 2024.
Critics have pointed fingers at the team’s overall form and questioned their “intent” on the field. However, Babar Azam appears to have a different perspective.
Following the series loss, the Pakistan skipper addressed the media, stating his frustration with recurring questions about the lack of intent by the Men in Green.
“We played like modern day cricket in the first six overs, exactly like how other teams are playing,” Babar Azam said.
“It’s disheartening to hear questions about intent after every other game,” he added. “Today’s loss was due to unexpected middle-order batting collapses. We need solutions for this crucial stage, and individual players must step up before the World Cup.”
England dominated throughout the series against Pakistan. Despite a valiant effort from Babar Azam (36 runs off 22 balls) and a fiery knock from Mohammad Rizwan in the final T20I, their middle order collapsed once again.
The poor form of Shadab Khan and Azam continues. Meanwhile, on the bowling front, their frontline pacer Naseem Shah has looked completely out of touch.
This series loss serves as a wake-up call for Pakistan heading into the T20 World Cup. The team has several areas to address and a lot to prove. It remains to be seen how they can bounce back and turn things around before the mega event.
