Reflecting on Pakistan’s performance against Australia in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Michael Vaughan, the former England skipper, stated that the team goes from ‘genius to wheels off in 10 minutes.’

Australia currently finds themselves with a massive 241-run advantage over Pakistan as Day 3 concludes in the second Test of their three-match series.

Following the end of Day 3 in Pakistan’s Boxing Day Test against Australia, Vaughan voiced on social media platform ‘X’ that Pakistan is the team that experiences a transition from genius to wheels off in just 10 minutes.

“The reason I love watching Pakistan is days like this. They go from Genius to wheels off within 10 mins.”

Australia kicked off the Boxing Day Test in style, smashing 187 for 3 by the end of Day 1, with Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head holding it down.

Pakistan’s batters took on the Aussie bowling firestorm and got off to a great start. Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood put on a good partnership, propelling Pakistan to 124 for 1. However, a late collapse had them wrapping up Day 2 at 194 for 6.

Aamer Jamal and Shaheen Afridi, the fast-bowling duo, pulled off a Day 3 shocker by smashing 33 not out and 21, respectively. Afridi even reached his highest Test score, and their unexpected batting prowess helped Pakistan rack up 264 runs in the second innings.

They continued their impressive form into the next innings, with Mir Hamza and Afridi tearing through Australia’s top-order, leaving them at a precarious 16 for 4. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh spearheaded a comeback with a pivotal 96-run knock, ultimately caught by Salman Ali Agha off Mir Hamza’s bowling.

Steve Smith contributed significantly, hitting a half-century before getting caught out, finishing the day with Australia at 187 for 6, holding a 241-run lead over Pakistan.
